FAQ

Why do we go to the sandbar?

Because it’s awesome! If you read some descriptions of the sandbar you might get mixed reviews. While yes on Saturday & Sunday during the summer months can be quite the party spot, the mornings and the rest of the week it’s beautiful, relaxing and family friendly!

What do we do at the sandbar?

We play music, put out floats, paddleboards and serve both adult beverages and soft drinks. Play hard or dig your toes in the sand and take in the scenery the choice is yours!

What is the Private Charter option?

Some guests prefer not to share a boat trip with others, so we offer a private charter option where you may rent out the entire boat just for your private group. Our boats are certified for up to 42 and 49 passengers, however, we typically cap one at around 30 people and the other around 40-45 so there is still plenty of room to move around. Rates fluctuate based on the number of passengers, the season and number of hours requested. Please call to receive the most accurate quote.

Why does the afternoon trip cost more?

In the summer months and holidays afternoon trips are more popular and the sandbar is more crowded with people. We typically recommend that families to take the morning trip on the weekend or any time on weekdays.

What type of boat do you operate?

Our 1st boat is a 38-foot (11.5m) power catamaran (not a sailboat) and is USCG inspected to carry up to 42 passengers, although we typically cap it at 30 passengers for everyone’s comfort. Additionally, 75% of the boat’s seating is shaded from the sun, there is a small bathroom onboard, and a large, wide ladder to make getting in & out of the water easier. This boat was designed as the perfect platform for snorkeling, sandbar and sunset cruises! Our 2nd boat is the same as above except it’s 49ft long, 2ft wider and rated for 49 passengers. This Sea Sea Rider is a great snorkel, sandbar and sunset cruise platform. Additionally due to it’s size and stability, it makes the perfect vessel for private functions such as wedding parties and corporate events! Both boats in tandem can accommodate 75-80 guests!

Do I have to worry about getting seasick?

Our trips stay on calm, inland waters, so it is very rare to get seasick (just try not to overdo the drinking the night before).

Are there age minimums? Can I bring my small children or toddlers?

There is no age limit for our trips. Small children aren't always receptive to snorkel equipment, but everyone enjoys the sandbar! While we designed our trips to be as active or relaxing as you may like, keep in mind that boating, snorkeling, swimming and paddle boarding are a physical activity. You will encounter climbing a ladder, swimming, weather elements etc. that may be taxiing for some individuals.

Why are 13+ considered adult?

Because of USCG regulates our capacity, determined by number of people & weight we consider 13 and above adults. We do offer a discounted rate to kids 12 and under, also another rate for small children under 3. *note: we do not offer snorkel gear with the toddler rate*

Where do you take us to snorkel?

During our snorkeling tours, the captain will always judge the group and asks qualifying questions to decide the best area for snorkeling to fit each group. Our #1 concern is passengers’ safety. During the windier winter months, we can’t always go to the reef, however, we do have alternate spots on the gulf-side where we frequently spot lobsters, stingrays, and other sea life. The crew will always show you the best available spots.

What is your bad weather cancellation policy?

Weather in the Florida Keys is unpredictable and extended forecasts are often wrong. If you’re concerned about weather, please give us a call *one hour* before your trip and the captain will look at the radar and make a decision. Most rain showers last 15-30 minutes and then we can depart afterward. We do not depart if there is lightning in the area. If we cancel your trip due to weather and you are unable to reschedule for another time, you will be given a 100% refund.

What do you provide and what should I bring?

We provide snorkel gear, paddle boards, floating mats, life jackets, and both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages(sodas, water, beer & rum punch) Please bring a towel, sunscreen and a light snack if you think you’ll need it..

Tipping/Gratuity

A customary tip in the USA is 15%-20%. Our charter is not simply a boat rental company; the Captain and mate work as service providers throughout your excursion, including setting up equipment, snorkel instruction, photography, launching paddleboards, cleaning, bringing the fun, bartending and more!!! They also maintain specific licenses and certifications to ensure your safety. The crew accepts cash tips, Venmo, or you may ask for a tip to be added to your credit card at the end of your trip.
