Is there a bathroom on your boats?
Yes, all of our shared charter boats have clean, private bathrooms onboard for your convenience during your Islamorada adventure.
Do I have to worry about getting seasick?
No, our boats are exceptionally stable. Most of our large vessels are catamarans designed for smooth rides, and we don’t take guests to rough water areas. It’s extremely rare for anyone to experience seasickness on our Islamorada tours.
What kind of boats do you use for shared charters?
Our shared charter fleet consists of large power catamarans ranging from 38 to 45 feet long and 12 to 14 feet wide. These vessels feature twin engines, onboard bathrooms, plenty of shade, comfortable seating, and exceptional stability for the best possible experience in Islamorada waters.
What kind of boats do you use for private charters?
For intimate private charters (6 guests or fewer), we use 22 to 24-foot deck boats with bimini tops and cushioned seating. For larger private groups (7+ guests), we utilize our spacious power catamarans to ensure everyone has plenty of room to enjoy their custom Islamorada adventure.
What is your cancellation policy?
We typically require 48-hour notice for cancellations, though we make exceptions for medical emergencies or hospitalizations during your vacation. For cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice, we provide store credit that can be used toward any future Clearly Unique Charters trip.
Can we cancel our trip if the weather looks bad?
Our experienced captain makes all weather-related decisions based on safety and marine conditions. We don’t cancel trips based on guest weather concerns, as our captain has the expertise to determine if conditions are truly unsafe for your Islamorada tour.
I booked a trip and was charged twice - what happened?
We charge approximately 50% as a deposit when you make your reservation, then charge the remaining balance to your card on file when you arrive for your trip. This is our standard two-payment process, not a double charge. Contact us if you have any concerns.
Do you offer military discounts?
Yes! We proudly offer a 10% discount for active military personnel and their families. Thank you for your service.
Are there any current specials or group discounts?
We often have last-minute availability specials and offer competitive group rates for larger parties. Call us directly to discuss current promotions and custom group pricing for your Islamorada charter.
How many people do your boats accommodate?
Our boats are legally certified for 42 to 49 passengers, but we typically limit capacity to about 2/3 of maximum to ensure a comfortable, uncrowded experience for all guests. See our fleet in action.
Is snorkeling difficult to learn?
Not at all! Snorkeling is very easy to learn. If you can swim in a swimming pool, you can learn to snorkel. Children typically pick it up even faster than adults.
What's the youngest age for children to snorkel?
While there’s no official minimum age, we’ve successfully taught children as young as three years old to snorkel. We have child-sized gear and patient instruction for young adventurers.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer to snorkel?
You don’t need to be a strong swimmer because saltwater provides excellent buoyancy, and we only visit areas without strong currents. Basic swimming knowledge is recommended for safety.
Do I need to know how to swim to snorkel?
Yes, basic swimming knowledge is required for safety during your Islamorada snorkeling adventure.
How much snorkeling time do we get on tours?
We guarantee at least one hour of snorkeling time, though we often stay longer if guests are enjoying the underwater experience. Most people are satisfied after approximately 45 minutes of exploring the reefs.
Can you stand up where we go snorkeling?
We intentionally avoid areas where you can stand to protect the delicate coral reefs and marine environment. Our snorkeling locations typically range from 7 to 15 feet deep, providing excellent visibility while preserving the ecosystem.
What reefs do you visit for snorkeling?
We love taking guests to the reefs around Cheeca Rocks and other prime Islamorada locations. We also have several alternate spots available for windy days to ensure you always have an excellent snorkeling experience.
Will you take us to Alligator Lighthouse for snorkeling?
While we have the ability to visit the lighthouse area, we never guarantee specific locations. Our experienced captain selects the best snorkeling spots each day based on wind conditions, visibility, and marine life activity to ensure you have the most incredible underwater experience possible.
Do you go to Molasses Reef, Christ of the Abyss, or Sombrero Reef?
No, those popular reefs are located in Key Largo and Marathon respectively. We focus on Islamorada’s spectacular local reefs, which offer equally amazing snorkeling with abundant marine life and pristine coral formations.
Do you have snorkel gear for children?
Yes, we have high-quality snorkel gear in all sizes, including masks, fins, and snorkels specifically designed for children.
Do you have life jackets for children and toddlers?
Absolutely! We carry Coast Guard-approved life jackets in all sizes, as required by law. Safety is our top priority on every Islamorada charter.
Do we have to wear snorkel vests?
No, snorkel vests are not required, though they’re available if you prefer the extra buoyancy. Learn more about snorkeling safety in our beginner’s guide.
Do you provide full face snorkel masks?
We don’t provide full face masks due to safety concerns regarding oxygen exchange. Our traditional mask and snorkel combinations are safer and more reliable for your underwater adventure.
Can I bring my own snorkel gear?
Absolutely! While we provide all equipment free of charge, you’re welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer. See our full packing guide for what to bring.
I wear glasses - will I be able to see while snorkeling?
Most guests see clearly without prescription lenses due to the magnification effect of snorkel masks. For those who need prescription lenses, local dive shops near our Islamorada departure points rent prescription masks.
Do we have to worry about sharks while snorkeling?
While we share the ocean with marine life including sharks, sightings are extremely rare, and problems are virtually non-existent. This area hasn’t had a shark incident in many decades. Our shallow snorkeling locations aren’t frequented by aggressive species.
Do we have to worry about jellyfish?
Jellyfish are quite rare in our snorkeling areas. When they are present, we either change locations or minimize risk by educating guests. Learn more about what to expect underwater in Islamorada.
How much time do we get at the sandbar?
Sandbar time typically ranges from 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on travel time to snorkeling locations and whether you’re on a sandbar-only trip.
Why should I choose the sandbar experience?
While some people expect a party scene, 90% of our sandbar guests are families enjoying quality time together. Kids can run around, play games, and use paddleboards in crystal-clear, waist-deep water that’s much cleaner than most hotel pools or beaches.
What's included on your tours?
We provide all snorkeling equipment (masks, fins, snorkels), beverages including beer and rum punch, floating devices, paddleboards, and tropical music. Everything you need for an amazing Islamorada adventure is included.
What's the difference between your snorkel-only tour and combo tour?
Our popular combo tour includes snorkeling at pristine reefs followed by a visit to our exclusive sandbar location. At the sandbar, we set up large floating mats, paddleboards, music, and serve complimentary drinks including water, lemonade, beer, and rum punch.
What's your most popular tour?
The combination snorkel and sandbar tour is our most popular because it offers something for everyone. Even guests who don’t snorkel or have difficulties in the water always have a fantastic time at the sandbar.
What's included on sunset trips?
Our romantic sunset cruises include a scenic boat ride to the perfect Gulf-side viewing location, tropical music, and complimentary beverages including beer, rum punch, wine, water, and lemonade while you watch nature’s spectacular daily show.
Is your sunset trip on a sailboat?
No, we use powerboats to reach the Gulf side because we must pass under bridges that restrict sailboat height. Our stable powerboats provide the perfect platform for sunset viewing and photography.
Will we get wet on a sunset cruise?
No, we travel at comfortable speeds on sunset trips, so you won’t experience spray or splashing. Learn more about our sunset cruises.
